Laying block on the foundation.  The retaining wall will be built aginst the block.  The 3 foot plus wide footer will ensure this building does not suffer the same fate as the previous buildings behind our historic structure.

Ken LeRoy, certified arborist, counts the rings of one of two hemlocks removed behind the Inn.  The tree dated back to 1840-1850.

For every tree removed, we will replant native species in their place.  Only those trees which presented an immediate danger to the Inn were cut down.  Trees have fallen on the stone retaining wall on the South side of the Inn, as well as the warming shed on the North side of the Inn.  (the Inn was *very* fortunate not to have a tree fall on the structure in it's 151 year history)
